People we love: Allyson Raleigh of Blooming Hydrangea Co.
Today, I’d like to introduce you to another talented artist, Allyson Raleigh, from Evansville, Indiana. She’s the owner/designer behind Blooming Hydrangea Co. and is a fellow artisan. After one look at her pieces, you’ll fall in love with them!
Q: How did you get into painting furniture?
Allyson: I started refinishing furniture when we bought our first house and I just had our first daughter. My first piece was a small dresser for my little Brooklyn. I didn’t know that refinishing furniture was so much fun! Years later my mom put a little bug in my ear to start selling my refinished furniture. I had my first craft show August 2016! I never would have imagined I would end up where I am now.
Q: What is a favorite piece that you’ve painted. Why did you love it?
Allyson: My most favorite piece right now is this beautiful dresser. It recently was in a photo shoot for a local bridal magazine
Q: What is your #1 tip for painting furniture?
Allyson: I think my #1 tip for painting furniture would have to be practice, practice, PRACTICE! My #2 tip is to not be afraid to try new things, nothing is perfect, have happy accidents!
Q: What do you do when your not painting?
Allyson: When I’m not painting I am running around with my 4-yea-old old Brooklyn and 2-year-old Austin.
Look at some of Allyson’s work. It’s so lovely – timeless and classic!
